The community is invited to bring their pets to Hilo’s Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles for the church’s annual Feast of St. Francis Animal Blessing Services during the 7:30 and 10 a.m. church services Oct. 2.
The church is located at 1407 Kapiolani St.
“Animals enhance our spirituality by showing us what it means to give unconditional love,” said the Rev. Moki Hino, church rector.
“The Feast of St. Francis gives us an opportunity to honor our pets and animals that give us comfort, satisfaction and peace.”
“The Feast Day celebration is really a great way for the community to get together, honoring all of God’s creations,” said the church’s senior warden, Dixie Kaetsu. “Last year, we even had a community member bring his horses to the church.
“It was a lot of fun.”
Since 1903, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostles has served the Hilo community with open arms and a firm belief that all are welcome.
The church hopes members of the community will bring their house pets, their farm animals and even their goldfish to the Feast of St. Francis services.
